​Ceòl, danns', is craic!​

 Our family cèilidh is open to all members of the Gaelic community in Edinburgh. It is an all-age event timed to be suitable for families with younger children.

The venue will be Morningside United Church, 15 Chamberlain Road, Edinburgh, EH10 4DH

Come along for dancing and to learn some well-known Gaelic songs. We will also be giving out lots of information and help with applications for the Edinburgh Local Mòd competitions.

The cèilidh will feature music from Bùrach, a fantastic folk band made up of former GME pupils from Edinburgh.

Although tickets are free, we ask that you please register for a ticket for each member of your party, as we have a limited capacity:

Thanks for all your lovely entries for the local mòd. We are now looking for videos for the cèilidh (which will be broadcast as the last event of the mòd on Saturday 29th May 2021). Please send us your videos of your tunes, songs, dances, tweed waulking... The cèilidh is a non-competitive showcase of our Gaelic community. Would your child like to enter a singing competition but you don't know where to start? Sign up for a free singing workshop over Zoom on Saturday 17th April with our own Calum Macleod. Calum is the chair of our organising committee, a musician, a music teacher, and a Mòd gold medallist. What better?
 
There are three workshops, and each is about half an hour long. Open to children of all ages. Sign up in advance by emailing localmodedinburgh@gmail.com.

]]>Sat, 20 Feb 2021 13:29:54 GMThttps://www.edinburghlocalmod.com/modblog/digital-local-mod-2021-syllabus-now-liveOur digital Edinburgh Local Mòd syllabus is now online!  The conversation competitions will be running over Zoom on 28th and 29th May.  The entries for the other competitions must be submitted no later than 30th April 2021 (further details in the Syllabus and Rules). All entry forms must be submitted no later than 30th April 2021.

As in 2020, everything is running remotely this year.  We hope that we will see more wonderful entries from last year's entrants, as well as from lots of new entrants (young and old).  The Mòd is a brilliant opportunity to get involved in a Gaelic community event.  And it is all about the taking part :)
