Our digital Edinburgh Local Mòd syllabus is now online! The conversation competitions will be running over Zoom on 28th and 29th May. The entries for the other competitions must be submitted no later than 30th April 2021 (further details in the Syllabus and Rules). All entry forms must be submitted no later than 30th April 2021.
As in 2020, everything is running remotely this year. We hope that we will see more wonderful entries from last year's entrants, as well as from lots of new entrants (young and old). The Mòd is a brilliant opportunity to get involved in a Gaelic community event. And it is all about the taking part :) Keep an eye on our Facebook page where we will be giving more detail about each of the competitions.

Our digital Edinburgh Local Mòd syllabus is now online. Please note we have extended the entry deadline to Friday 15th May!
There are conversation, literary, art and media competitions, which we are running remotely this year. We hope that many competitors will create a piece of work and take part in our Gaelic community event. Keep an eye on our Facebook page where we will be giving more detail about each of the competitions.
We'll do a proper round-up of all the contributions at the joint Mòd/Shinty information evening over the next few days, but in the mean time, here's the wee report that An Là did for the evening news bulletin today. Many many thanks to everyone who came along, and to all the lovely speakers who gave up their time and shared their knowledge and experiences. Agus mòran taing dha Calum airson fiolmadh! We've heard from lots of parents that they're not quite sure about what the Mòd is, how it works, or why it's such a big event in the Gaelic calendar. Often families' first experience of the Mòd is when their child comes home from school with a song or a poem to learn for a competition, or when their friends' plans for the October holiday include a visit to wherever the National Mòd is hosted that year. But what's it all for, really? We thought that it might be a good idea to hold an informal event where we could share some of the history of the Mòd, talk about its place in Gaelic culture, and give you all a chance to find out 'everything you ever wanted to know about the Mòd but were afraid to ask'. So we've teamed up with our good friends at Camanachd Dhùn Èideann, Edinburgh's Youth Shinty Club, to put on an informal cheese and wine evening where we can get together to socialise, share information about the great opportunities available to kids through shinty and the Mòd, explain how it all works in practice, and talk about ways to support your kids to take part. We'll have a great collection of people there to share their knowledge and experiences - you can find more information in the invitation linked below, and we'll keep our Facebook page updated with the latest news. We'd love to have you join us - and we'd be especially grateful if you could let us know if you're coming, to help us plan the refreshments!
